SC Movie Review 14

Children of Men

This is not a feminist documentary about the idea of making men experience the pain of child birth but a science fiction (I guess...) film based in 2030.

I originally wanted to see it when it came out but unfortunately nobody wanted to see it with me. Whether that was just the film or because they would have to sit with me. Anyway, I rented it out from Blockbusters on Friday night and watched it with April after cooking a lovely meal and skoffing large quantities of ice-cream. Mmmmm. Ben and Jerry's.

Every country in the world has turned against itself after 20 years of not being able to produce children. With the help of an amusing Michael Caine and Ross's Mum (Pam Ferris) Clive Owen must help a young expectant mother travel to the south coast of England to catch a boat to safety.

Very good film all in all. Especially an action sequence at the end which was reminiscent of Call of Duty. Also there was a great character Syd (Peter Mullan) who stole the whole show as a Scottish police man.
