Surface Pro

As mentioned previously my surface pro has been playing up recently.  The screen starts to flicker if it's been on too long.  Usually after playing a game or two for a while.  But yesterday it happened when I was working from home.  This is an issue as I need to be able to work from home, i'm working from home again tomorrow.

Before going out and getting a new one I called Microsoft and they went through a number of tests.  I had to video the screen twice, once on a test screen and once when it was happening in its normal use.

I videoed the test screen and there is a slight flicker but I couldn't replicate the flicker!  Grr...  I will try again tonight when I get in.  Hopefully they will approve the replacement as it's a known issue with the Pro 4.

Animal farm

We took Flo to Kent life on Monday.  Other than it being a bit hot, Flo loved it.  She loved feeding all of the animals especially the funny mini sheep and goats.

Hmm... Who gave Florence some chalk

I wondered why she was so quiet.  The box at the bottom of the picture is my network storage device.  Florence!

New PC / laptop?

I've had my surface pro for 2.5 years now and it's been good.  For a small / light laptop it's surprisingly capable of playing a fair few games.  However, after an hour or so if noticed it struggling in the heat.  The screen starts blurring and basically becomes unusable.  It's fine if I just use it for work etc. but it does struggle with games.

Do I get a new one?

Working from home today

I'm working from home today, I was hoping for a quiet one and just being left to do the work that i've put off for a few days as have been overloaded with other stuff, unfortunately i've been given some more work.  It never ends.  At least they're paying me.

Unicorn ice cream

Florence had her first unicorn ice cream on Sunday.

What I want to know is it made from unicorns or did someone have to milk one?

Tonbridge Massive day trip to Eastbourne Airshow

Most of the Tonbridge Massive headed down to Eastbourne to visit our friends at the Eastbourne Airshow on Saturday.  It was great.  The weather could have been a little nicer as it was a little windy and overcast but I still managed to get burnt!

Nobody died

We had a games night a couple of weeks ago and towards then end of the night we gave Throw, throw Burrito a go.  As expected it ended up in carnage, but it was fun.  We had to move all of our drink glasses to another room before play commenced.

6 months done

Another 2 and a half to go.  I'm now been at my current contracting role for 6 months.  It's flown by.  The last couple of weeks haven't been tremendously fun but the project will end eventually...  The rest of the time's been great.  I do turn up an hour early each day but also get to leave at 5 so they get an extra half an hour of Stu time for free.  Bargain.

My contract ends at the end of October.  We will see what happens after that, you never know, they may extent again, but the current plan is to start looking in a month or so's time.

Work away day

We had a departmental away day last week and it culminated in us all going on a bbq boat.  Urgh.  I don't like going on boats at the best of times but this time I was still hanging from going on the booze with the rugby nights the night before.

Luckily it was on the flat waters of Canary Wharf.

Winning

We bought a new (second hand) sofa and chair from a charity shop on Saturday on a whim.  It still needed a bit of a clean but resulted in nearly £4 in change down one of the sides.  $1.50 in Aussie $ too.

Chili twig is producing a lot of chillis

It's been on deaths door for years now but still manages to produce the odd chili.  The latest harvest has yielded 10!

Missed the charity shield on Sunday

As I had to go to a friend's daughter's 3rd birthday party.  It was meant to be a really good game.  Urgh.

Saying that it wasn't that bad, there was a bouncy castle and plenty of booze.

Easy like Sunday morning

She finally likes swings

She's now 21 months old and she finally likes the swing.  This is the best play ground apparatus as apart from the occasional push you don't have to do much.  Although she can generally climb up most slides you still have to help her and make sure she doesn't plummet down too fast (she's done that once already and took a face full of dirt).

So good I bought two

I bought this mug for a friend's birthday a couple of weeks back, I also bought myself one.  Unfortunately it came all the way from China so arrived late.
