Brew Dog Shares anyone?

Just been sent this from Brewdog, tempting...  But not sure if I can justify £95 for a share in a brewery

I'd better not have to go up and get you!

Silly cat stuck on next door's extension.

Short work week coming

A short week of work coming up, just the two days, but it will be a tough one. Very busy so not even sure I can have lunchtime drinks on Wednesday for my birthday! After that i'll get a chance to relax though, we're off to see Pulp at the Brixton Academy before staying the night in Clapham.

Not much planned for our day off on Thursday but Friday we're wine and menu tasting for our wedding. Yum! Saturday will be messy. It's my mate's stag. Preemptive urgh!

Poorly jukebox

I think it needs a reboot, the touch screen was playing up.

Shopping

Whilst in Charing Cross yesterday I picked up some burger rings for April and some twisties for me.

It's like shooting fish in a barrel

No wonder they haven't shot him yet.  Look at their attempts at hitting a stationary target...

3 Star Hygiene

April before her tattoo appointment.  If you look closely to the left by the door, there's a 3 star hygiene award.  It's from the same firm that my work's kitchen got their 4 stars from (see earlier post).  Not sure which i'd prefer to be more hygienic...

How long before this goes on ebay?

And how much will it go for?

If you don't ask, you don't get...

Pork scratchings anyone?  And before you ask it wasn't me.

Hungry moths

Either I have a habit of leaning on my elbows at work or we have a very hungry moth that lives in our cupboard and is quite partial to the left elbow of my work shirts.

That's the third shirt in the passed two weeks or so that the left elbow has warn through!  Bloody hell.  I've just bought two new ones but they're saved for weddings!

And to top it off, i've spilt some coke on my white shirt i'm wearing now.  Oops!  Sorry April.

Please pick me!

Impressed with myself

A fat guy in the gym flicked his pants up with his foot like a stripper.  I am impressed with my self control and didn't laugh.  What a d!ck.

A new member

I didn't realise the Red Hot Chili Peppers had a new band member.  I'm waiting for April at the cinema last night so had a look around at all of the future movie release posters.  There was one (shown) about a live screening of the new Chili Pepper's album.  I've only just spotted the likeness of Chad Smith and Will Ferrell.  Very close.

Incidentally we were there to see Cowboys and Aliens.  Which I felt was very good.  Not sure what IMDb is playing at.

Anyone for octopus balls?

You can't really see much from the photo but the poster next to the girl is advertising the Japanese Canteen's new product. I didn't think octopus had balls...

Good headline

Maybe I could be parachuted in to annoy current dictators of the world.  I've been told I have a certain knack for it.

Gaddafi be warned...

Second kill of the week

Not only did Biscuit catch an extremely large moth this week, this morning our little killer brought home her latest victim.  I haven't done a formal autopsy yet but I think she may have bagged herself a scotch egg.  Yuk!

Sharp elbows

Two of my shirts have sprouted holes in their left elbows this week.  Doh!  The most annoying part of it is that you only notice once you've already ironed most of the shirt.

Rock on

I don't play the guitar but thought I needed to buy this! For those not in the know... the Tenacious D Pick Of Destiny.

Yum... just tried this

The Japanese chap in our team made us try this.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Y%C5%8Dkan

As far as I can work out it was some sort of sweet bean paste desert.
Taste = Sweet custard
Texture = mushy peas.
Verdict = Yummy...  Will I try it again? Hell no!

I twas better than the Lobster and Escallop sausage that I had last night with Shaheen, Kate and April in roast Borough Market.  Shaheen ordered the same as me and it wasn't great.  Taste was nice enough.  Texture was a sloppy mess.  Mmm.  Not the best £30 I ever spent.

126 days

By my calcualtions it should only take me another 126 days to get to 5000 points I need (given the same rate of survey points per day as this past month).

21/12/11 Just in time for Christmas!

You're asking me what?

I had better get 5000 points for answering these questions soon.  Only 1000 left before I get to cash in my £50.  Only taken me 7 years so far...

ACDC wine?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/14540106

I know I want some.

Almost as useful as a chocolate teapot

A disposable fork that distorts its shape when exposed to heat. Awesome! Instead of waisting their time and effort on curing cancer and the like the scientific community should come up with a new SI unit for temperature.

The Sausage Roll - measured in how many multiples (or degrees) of oven fresh sausage roll temperature it takes to melt an item.

Isn't this what we pay the EU to do?

Monday 15 August 2011

See how you like that body!

Twice to the gym today.

-40 mins worth of running
-20 mins on the gay ski thing
-20 mins rowing
-10 mins leg weights
-10 mins arm weights

Now i'm knackered.

Exercise update

For the passed 6 months I have done 63 'exercises', this usually means an intense workout of around 45 mins in the gym during my lunch hour. That's 34.5% of days I do some form of exercise. During that time my weight has moved from an average of 92.7kg (Feb) to 96.8kg (Aug), during that time I reached a peak of 97.6kg or a mighty 15st 5lb to those older than 20.

I know i'm trimming down but weighing that amount surely can't be good for my knees. Especially when the season starts up again and the ground is still hard. It's not as if i'm only doing weights, i've been mixing the gay step thing with rowing, cycling and a few other bits. What am I doing wrong?

So much for my goal of having a bmi of less than 30 when I started. I'm nearly 10 kg over that. Ha, ha. That's 88.6kg for my height so unless I lose a limb or suddenly grow a few inches in height that target is unreasonable. Oh well, maybe I need a new set of scales...

New films that I want to see at my local cinema

Unfortunately April won't go to see them with me (unless I pay)

(in order of preference)
http://www.odeon.co.uk/fanatic/film_info/m13320/Cowboys_amp_Aliens/ (6.7/10)
http://www.odeon.co.uk/fanatic/film_info/m12799/Super_8/ (7.6/10)
http://www.odeon.co.uk/fanatic/film_info/m12803/Rise_Of_The_Planet_Of_The_Apes/ (8/10)
Funny how my preferences are in the opposite direction to the current imdb ratings…

Oh and I also want to see Conan?

Poor Biscuit

She was shut in the spare room for a little over a day. Poor thing. So she's a little clingy today.  If you look closely you'll see her lying on me.  Plus i'm watching football whilst playing football manager.  April's home soon though so that may have to stop...

Doh, silly neighbours

We had a knock on the door yesterday just before we were due to head out the door to see Captain America (SC rating: 66 / 100 (1 vote)). It was our next door neighbours who had locked themselves out of their house. Doh!

They're nice enough so we ended up leaving them in our house whilst we went to the cinema. Thankfully they were gone by the time we got back.

London's burning

Bloody hell, I've been away for 3 nights and look what the scum bags have done to London. Half of it was on fire yesterday. Thieving, opportunistic fuckwits.

There parents must know what they're up to with all the empty cardboard boxes everywhere in their houses and what are they doing about it? Nothing.

One comment by a group of girls when asked what they were doing was.

"We're claiming back our taxes"

What taxes?

Wii shoulder

Our cabin in the Forest of Dean had it's very own Nintendo Wii, we played a fair amount of tennis, now we both have sore arms and shoulders.

Bloody hell, I knew I should have warmed up.

Saturday 6 August 2011

Now I can relax

Thanks April

All I need now is...

A cold glass of wine.

Stroke of luck

Due to the heavy rain a couple of days ago the deluxe tents we were supposed to stay in on our glamping holiday spangled a leak and were unavailable for our trip. Luckily April managed to find us a spare luxury log cabin in the same Forest of Dean resort that we stayed with my brother back over New Years (minus the snow).

Under floor heating, wii, WiFi, sky sports, movies, bbq and hot tub.

It cost a fair bit more than the camping and was a couple of hours further away but it's well worth it.

Not in the same league

I was flicking through a few tweets this morning and a couple from qikipedia stood out.

"To achieve great things, two things are needed: a plan, and not quite enough time" LEONARD BERNSTEIN
"There are three things that are extremely hard - steel, a diamond, and to know one’s self" BENJAMIN FRANKLIN

The only one I can think of is

"Eating's cheating" STUART ROBERT CLARK

And I didn't even come up with it.

Doh! £50 for a lunch, bloody hell.

Seeing as there were 12 of us the bill came to a fair bit, our director kept his wallet shut.  Unfortunately we've got a couple of grads and interns that were invited too so we had to split the bill between 10.  Doh!  At least we got out of the office for two and a half hours and can't see much going on this afternoon!

All I know is that the guy who's leaving meal it was now owes me £50.  I did say it'll be touch and go as to whether it was going to be net account or not due to the cost of the restaurant.  Idiot!

The robots are coming...

Skynet here we come
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-14368244

Well that was worth 35 minutes of my time

The cheeky taxman does owe me money.  Apparently I underpaid in 09/10 and overpaid by quite a bit in 10/11.  Despite this they dropped my current tax code from the standard 747L to 457L so that I would pay it back the money I owed the year before.  Idiots!  Now my tax code is going back up to the full amount.  What does that mean?

Well, it means that I should pay roughly £1,000 less tax this year.  And because I've already overpaid for 3-4 months already I should get some more back in over payments.  Unfortunately it won't be in one lump sum, but I am at least going to get my money back.  The thieving gits!

And to top it all off I did it during office hours so got paid for the privilege.

Could be an expensive day...

...but hopefully not for me.

A team member is leaving in a couple of weeks and has invited us all to lunch as a farewell.  Last time someone left they booked us in somewhere quite nice and we all expected to pay so it was a nice surprise that my boss picked up the tab and put it on his corporate card.  That's why our new leaver has invited us to Hawksmore.

http://www.thehawksmoor.co.uk/

It's where I took April this year after my bonus came through.  I think it was approaching £90 per head, but I did have a £50+ steak.  If the bill isn't paid for a few of us will be quite annoyed.  The food's great but I certainly wouldn't go if I have to pay.

If it's your leaving meal / drinks you're expected to pay.  It won't be my fault if you're stuck with a very costly bill at the end of the lunch.

After that we're all going bowling so that should be fun.  I think it's somewhere near Brick Lane so not far.  If that works I might see if some other friends fancy it as April's wanted to go for a while.

Taking a nasal spray to get a tan. Idiot!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/14344727

Nicole bought Ubertan from her local tanning salon.

She is worried about the contents but will continue to use it until there's proof that it is unsafe.
"I didn't know anything about it when I first took it, so I wasn't worried at all. I didn't even think about it really," she admitted.
"This is the best tan I have had.
"This is my last bottle now and maybe in a couple of months, I may get another one."

"You feel a bit dizzy and you get a head rush like you've had your first cigarette of the day," she said.

You should probably stop smoking as well...

A stark warning

Remind you of anyone?
