Wow, who knew?

I played my first game of role-playing on Tuesday without the party actually killing anything? We were playing a one shot cyberpunk game and ended up talking out way round things. Who would have thought? I only had to roll one set of dice too.

It was still fun, but I hope we get back to killing stuff next week on D&D.

Arwen going for the Christopher Reeve look

Chem trails

The plans were busy this morning.  This is part of the walk back from dropping the kids off in the morning.

The garden has faired well

I think the new plants pretty much all survived the winter.  Now the bulbs have started popping up!

April was away so I cooked myself some steak

April started her viticulture course on Sunday and Flo was on a playdate after rugby.  I decided it was steak day for me and Arthur.  Pretty pleased with it.

50 kids at training on Sunday!

I think they enjoy my new game

I really shouldn't laugh

Robot no.2

2nd robot made. Now with helmets

Yum

April's got more into her cooking recently. I'd let her cook this for me again. Pork belly in black vinegar. Yum

Leveling up

We all levelled up to lvl 6 on Tuesday.  This was after nearly getting eaten by a blind ancient white dragon.  Good fun.  Not much exciting things to do at level 6 for a wizard but I get a couple of extra spells and a few extra hp.

Highlight was getting asked to roll a d100 to generate a random magical item.  I rolled the dice across the table and got 100!  I'm now the proud owner of a +1 wand of the war mage.  It was supposed to be a +2 but the gm said it was too powerful.  I'll have to make do with my attuned shield guardian.

No GM next week so we're due to do a one shot of Cyberpunk.

Box robot

I turned a box into a robot for Arthur yesterday and he loved it.  It inevitably caused conflict as Flo wanted a go too.  Luckily i've sourced another box so they can both play tomorrow.

Today's walk

Bit of a long soggy walk this morning.  The swan didn't like the dog coming over to say hello.

Don't think we're training the u6s at the club this Sunday!

Monday 19 February 2024

Probably a wise decision

Yesterday's u6 rugby training was moved last minute to a different venue.  I think it was probably wise.  These are the pitches we use.  Might have got a little wet.  The rain held off yesterday morning too.

I had to run the session again as Jon was away but it went pretty smoothly.

Saturday 17 February 2024

Rugby tots

Arthur got ran over by one of the other parents at rugby tots this morning.  He banged his head on the floor and was a bit upset.  He missed one game but then joined in for the rest of the session.  Good kad.

Friday 16 February 2024

Nice late winters day

Back to the old routine, here's Tonbridge in a little morning sun.  The rugby pitches look okay, a little heavy but would be fine to play on Sunday.  Unfortunately it's forecast to rain during the session, so might not be much fun for the little ones.

Thursday 15 February 2024

Possibly playing star wars with the dweebs at some point

Possibly playing d20 star wars saga rpg remotely with the old dweebs so thought i'd do a bit of research.  I've probably only watched the new lot once so will be nice to revisit.

Jukebox has lost internet connectivity

Any ideas?  I've e-mailed them but no reply yet.

Change of plans

April took the dog for a walk this morning so I took the kids to their play group.  I did a little walk around the castle then on to the bakehouse for a cup of tea.

Wednesday 14 February 2024

Well that's good news!

I've had sinus problems off and on for a little while so was getting treated by the doctor.  I was hoping for antibiotics as that cleared it up before.  I didn't get them this time but then I had a pretty bad case of Flu and started coughing up a little blood in the morning (tiny amount) meant my doctor relented and prescribed some, it didn't clear it up and that combined with a weight loss and some interesting numbers in some blood tests suggested I should get a CT scan to investigate further.  (Surprisingly liver and kidney function are fine!  As I see it the doctor is telling me to continue with my current rate of booze intake)

I'm feeling much better than I was after the flu, I even played a full 80 mins in a game of rugby but the reason why I was getting the CT scan was to check for cancer.

It was just to rule it out, which I understand was a very small chance but still, the risk was there.  I'm not one to worry and for the most part I didn't but it was still at the back of my mind.

Anyway...  I had a chat with a specialist doctor this afternoon and he said I was fine, I don't have cancer. I still have the sinus issue which may need further investigation but I am relieved.  Having the kids now makes you think a bit.

Amature

There was a story this week about a football manager player getting an actual managers job all be it in Iceland.

https://www.sportbible.com/football/gaming/football-manager-gaming-iceland-football-262214-20240211

He says he's spent 8% of his waking life playing FM.  Nothing but an amature.  How about 8.9%?

I've only got records going back to FM09 which is where I first started playing it on steam, but before that I played it just as much.  In fact all the way back to 1992 when it was called Championship Manager.  A conservative estimate would assume the same rate of play for the additional games brings me up to 8.8%.  At the time of writing I still haven't had a job offer.

Friends round for impromptu spag bol

April was in London yesterday with the kids and another mum and her kid Oscar.  I offered to cook tea for them all when they got back.  Oscar's dad joined us too.  It was very nice.  They went back in for seconds!

Stocking up

I'm off to see Body Count later this year with Shaheen, I only have a couple of albums so thought i'd buy some of their back catalogue.  That's 4 and another is on route.

Tuesday 13 February 2024

Smash burgers return

April wanted smash burgers yesterday and was going to cook them for me and the kids, but then she got stuck on a call and I had to do them. Turned out pretty good.  Mine had jalapenos in it.

Flo joined me on this morning's dog walk

The kids are off this week and Flo was up early so I asked her if she wanted to join me on walking the dog.  We went to see the sheep, and also spotted these guys.  What are they?  Fat pigeons?

I promised sheep, not sheep that were close!

Fat pigeons?

We listened to the birds singing and found these guys..

Monday 12 February 2024

Shattered

Both kids played rugby yesterday, it was Arthur's first proper session.  He's done rugby tots since he was 2 off and on but this was his first session with TJs, and me running it.  We then went out for a late Sunday lunch at the Leicester Arms (expensive) with friends.  The poor feller was shattered by the end and fell asleep in the car on the way back.

Water's high in Tonbridge

After the best part of the week of rain, the sports grounds have had better days.

This is supposed to be grass

Fresh this morning

Sheep

We had a change of venue for the kids rugby yesterday, not looking great for Sunday

Sunday 11 February 2024

Dinner party

We had 4 friends round ours last night for our monthly dinner party. It was our turn to do the main so I cooked a chicken pot pie. April made parmesan potatoes. It was great.

Friday 9 February 2024

Sea Power

We went to see Sea Power last night (formerly British Sea Power).  We met up with a friend who was randomly going too and he brought along 3 of his friends.  Our friend Stu was there too.  Apparently i've seen them before in the same venue.  I can't remember.  But the blog never lies.

Don't think we'll have rugby at the club on Sunday

As usual the rugby pitches are soaked.  We'll be up at Summerhill (Hogwarts) instead.  Not the greatest of venues.  You're a bit exposed up there if it's windy and it doesn't have a bar.

Tuesday 6 February 2024

Bruise

This is the bruise after Saturday's game.  I'm sure whatever hit me came off worse.

Lone swan

Spotted this guy on my walk with Arwen this morning.  There are a fair few in Tonbridge.

Monday 5 February 2024

Bodycount mother fuckers!

After a little trouble managed to get tickets to see Bodycount with Shaz later in the year.  Can't wait!

Saturday's game

We played Maidstone vets on Saturday and had a great day.  We had a squad of 25 they only brought 12 so we had to lend them a few players.  We won 29-13 and I even scored and played the full 80 minutes!  This was all followed up with a beer festival back at the club.  Ended up getting home with a kebab at around 11 (ish)

I'm looking quite slim at the minute

Victors

Looking for that pass

Taking command of the situation.
