Octomug arrived

I've been looking for a nice large handmade mug for my tea and April found this on Etsy.  It's reassuringly heavy and has an octopus on it.  What's not to like?  Brilliant!

New tea

 And pot.

I bought a nice new one cup tea pot last week and some fancy teas to go with it.  This is a nice jasmine called Silver Needle.  Takes me right back to our honeymoon in Thailand.

Nobody tells me what to do

Not even Mr Coffee

I put tea bags in rather than coffee.  In hindsight I probably didn't need the filter paper and 4 tea bags was a bit too strong, but I still call that a success.   I think I might get one of these bad boys to use when we get back to Blighty.

Burnt hand

Big thanks to the dickhead at the pumpkin cafe (platform 2) at Tonbridge Station this morning.  He didn't put the lid on the cup of tea i'd ordered so when I picked it up the lid flipped off and near boiling water went all over my hand.

If anything, i'm surprised with my ability not to swear whilst enduring extreme pain.

I will punish them with 1 weeks abstinence.

This time this week

I will be mostly in bed.

We're on holiday this week! Yeah!

Now to convince April to make me a cup of tea...

Day 2 welcome to the teepee

Here's April trying to boil a kettle on the wood burner. It didn't work. The burner did though. Too well. It was either swelteringly hot or bloody freezing.

Above inflation rise

My tea was 10p more expensive this morning.  That's a rise of 7.7%, way above inflation (last year it rose by 8.3%), and crazy.  I am seriously considering making my own tea in the morning.  Over the course of the year that's an additional £27 which I think is totally unreasonable.  All they do is put hot water, milk and a teabag in a cup and hand it to me.  £1.40 seems like a bit too much.

But this is nothing when compared to the great tea price increase of 1999 when I was working for Aquascutum.  A cup of tea went up from 10p to 15p overnight (50%).  This nearly resulted in riots.  Or more accurately it resulted in one bloke bringing in his own teabags and milk each day.

Good start to the day

I went to my usual tea shop in the morning and was given a free tea. They recognise me now and usually get my order whilst i'm waiting in the queue. He made a mistake when putting it through the till so just said it was on the house instead. Result! That's 2 in one year.

Inflation busting tea

The price of my daily tea’s gone up by 8.33% (10p) this year, how can they justify that? I’d take my business elsewhere if I could find a cheaper alternative that doesn’t mean me making it for myself. Gits!

I reckon it’ll cost me between £20-£25 over the course of a year.

Should I finish making my tea?

I was just making a cup of tea in our breakout area when I heard a loud thud behind me. A female colleague had collapsed and fell off her chair during a meeting.

There were enough people around her and checking she was okay so I headed over to HR to get them to get an ambulance. I think she’s conscious now but they’re still going to take her in as a precaution.

The predicament I have is should I go back and finish making me tea...???

I hope she's alright.

Free tea this morning

I went to my usual coffee shop to pick up my white tea this morning and when I offered to pay he said don't worry about it. I asked why and he said because it was a Friday.

Good man.

I told the guys at work and they said i've probably got a stalker.

Great...
