Progress

 We bought a new set of digital bathroom scales back in May as the old set had packed it in.  These measure your body composition.  I'm generally unsure of the science behind these things and how accurate they truly are.  For instance my watch also has this feature and the two have quite large differences between them.  One thing that I think works though is relativism.  If i'm 10 in one metric and I measure myself again a week later and i'm down to 9.9 then I can see progress even if the initial figure 10 isn't accurate.

The figure i've improved on today is visceral fat, that's the belly fat found deep within your abdominal cavity.  My value dropped from 13 to 12 yesterday!  I can tell that i'm definitely trimming down since I started going to the gym but it's nice to get recognition.  I'm not sure what the unit of 12 or 13 is, kgs sounds a bit heavy.  I'm sure it's still too high anyway but as I said earlier it's coming down which is the main thing.

 I had the guys over for d&d last night then popped to the pub to see my mate Andrew.  It was a fun session but unfortunately the highlight for most will be when I sat down on the kitchen bench and it collapsed!  Luckily I was the only on on it!  Hopefully it's repairable.

 We'd put our food bin out for collection and as it's been damaged some of the food pops out, Josie's had to get through quite a bit of leaves to get to the lamb leg bone!

We didn't want to cook on the first night so went out for a curry.  Shaheen spotted this guy at the bar so kindly took a photo with me putting my finger in my mouth.  He turned out to be the restaurant's pianist.

 Heading back to the office after walking the dog, I heard a big meow. I'd forgotten to give Josie her lunch! And she'd followed me almost all the way to the high street!

I had to walk back and take her home.  Greedy fat cat!

 I cooked a roast chicken yesterday and the cat was pestering us whilst we were eating.  I put her outside so we could eat our lunch in peace.  She found a new vantage point.

Weight news

I weighed myself this morning and i'm down to 90.1kg.  That's pretty low for me.  It may surprise you that I actually have a spreadsheet to track it, although I haven't recorded a new entry for over 2 years. 

To put that in context my weight averages at 93.64kgs, max was a whopping 97.6 (15st 5lb), and a low of 89.2kg which if I remember correctly was after a bout of food poisoning so was more down to dehydration than any effort to reduce my weight.

What have I done to get so svelte? Nothing much, although i'm out walking the dog a couple of times a day i'm actually walking less, partly because of the new lockdown, and partly due to the weather.  I don't really eat that much so that helps but I still like a drink or two and that certainly hasn't cut down.

Let's see if I can get to just being overweight rather than obese in the next month or so.  Oh dear, Christmas is coming...

Time to diet?

I lost a few kgs last year in Chicago, I think mostly down to the amount of miles I walked pushing Flo around in her pram all day.  I think i've now put most of it back on.

I can certainly feel my trousers a bit tighter and this morning I burst a button off my suit jacket.  Doh!

Time for a bit of a diet?  Or more exercise?

Josie's doing well in her new home but despite being on a strict diet I don't think she's losing much weight.  I do treat her occasionally, but surely she'll be able to fit back through the cat flap unaided at some point.

One of the chaps in our team turned 30 over the weekend so brought in a large cardboard box of samosas. Quite spicy.

We've also got a couple of the team coming back from holidays so we have treats from France and Vietnam.

Get yourself a cat.  She can also be used to block out the sun.

Observation

On holiday today  having a cup of tea in a cafe on the high street.  It's amazing how fat the unemployed are.

I'm certainly not saying that I'm thin before anyone chirps up.
