New show

Found another new show, this one's on TMC.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1699748/

Hell on Wheels, watched the first episode and it's not bad. Kind of like Deadwood, set in the 1800's when America was building it's railroad across the country.

Funny insurance podcast episode

comedy: 07.05.12: Tom Wrigglesworth's Open Letters

Or at least it would be if you could still download it.

Change of career

We got rid of our old cleaner a couple of months back because she was rubbish so have been doing it ourselves since. Due to a combination of April having higher cleanliness standards than me and me being rather lazy we’ve decided to look for a new cleaner.

The first quote we got back was for nearly 3 times the price! A massive £22.20 / hour after tax. And they recommend two maids for two hours a fortnight for a house the size of ours.

Bloody hell! My hourly rate isn’t too a tremendous amount more than that! But I guess I probably don't look good in a maid's outfit.  Although, you don't know until you try...

Let's hope for April's sake that some of the quotes come in cheaper.

News for Ben

Ben, I know you've always wanted to get fit and now here's a chance to meet Wolverine at the same time as keeping fit.

It's bloody hot

Just did about an hour in the back garden.  It's been a good while since I did anything out there.  Too bloody hot though.  Not great for a ginger.

New band name

April's new band has their first gig this Thursday at an open mic night in our favorite pub, but they still haven't got a name for the band.  Any suggestions? They wanted to call themselves the Remedies, but as chance would have it there was a band with the same name at their rehearsal studios so it's a no go.

Back to work tomorrow

After our week off we're back into work tomorrow.  Boo.  A week of work, then four days off with the extra long bank holiday weekend to come.  Then only three weeks to our trip to Portugal.  I've never been so looking forward to that.

Tenby

Here's a few shots walking round Tenby. Apart from the crap parking. Fairly nice. Great beach too. Plus I bought an Iron Maiden mug.

Any one for some food and chips?

Only in Wales. Tenby to be precise. A food and chip shop.

Our beast

Our golf buggy for driving around the resort. I was told off earlier for going round an assault course on it. Oops, it was only for off road vehicles.

Our cabin

No hot tub this time but very nice all the same.

Cheeky squirrel

Greedy squirrel outside our cabin

Crazy monkey golf

Killing time before heading to Wales, we found a jungle themes crazy golf course. April was 2 ahead with one to play. I then struck a hole in one.  April needed 3 to draw. She scraped a 3. Doh!

Anti-graffiti

Dirt water blasted away from Bristol police station using stenciles. A fair few were sailor ferry birds like April's tattoo.

Lloyd's 7's

I played in Lloyd's 7's again yesterday.  Pretty good fun although I hate the game.  Far too tiring.  My only injury is my sun burn.

Corby mention of the week

In this weeks Empire news letter the comment next to the film 2 Days in New York.  P.S.  April will never take me to see the Raid.  Boo!

Bloody cats

Another one bites the dust. Poppet's killed two animals in one week. Nice...

Post office idiots

I received an e-mail response from the Royal Mail today asking for me to resend my complaint as their system failed to pick it up.  Idiots.  Luckily i'd saved a version of my letter in word so didn't have to rewrite it.

Fingers crossed

I dropped our car off to get serviced yesterday afternoon and am picking it up this evening, hopefully it won't cost as much as last year (£800). It's due for it's 7 year 75,000 mile service, our car's only just done 33,000 so there can't be too much wrong with it.

Whilst waiting to get picked up from the garage by a friend I had a look round the forecourt. I was nicely surprised that our car’s value has held up very well with time.

Another 2006 MX-5 (although a better colour) was for sale for £8,300 we bought ours for £9,600 3 and a half years ago. Ours does have a couple of prangs and scratched leather seat but the low mileage must help keep it’s value up.

Anyway let’s hope we don’t have to fork out a fortune this time round and with any luck they’ll fill up the windscreen washer water. It ran out last month and I couldn’t be bothered filling it up again as I knew that it was due a service.

So far so good

We got Tivo installed today. First impressions are that it's very good.

Still lots to play with.  But best feature is the If you like this feature.

Golf's too easy

I bought last years Tiger Woods golf game for my x-box. After 2 rounds of my first pro golf tournament I'm -21 14 ahead of my nearest competitor. Maybe I should increase the difficulty.

The Killing

Poppet's at it again, there was a dead mouse on the stairs when I went down this morning. Stupid cat!

Rugby dinner equals carnage

It's our rugby dinner tonight. Wish me luck.

Tax idea

Can I claim back the tax on the beer I've bought if I put good music on the jukebox?

It's the 3rd it 4th time we've been congratulated on our musical taste in our local pub.

Good points

Money goes to the artist

The general public is educated into good music

Bad points

It's cost us £10

P&J on a Monday

Best pub in Tonbridge. What to do on a bank holiday Monday evening? Pub o'clock. Start the week as you mean to go on.

Only problem is our rounds cost an extra 25% as we're always on the jukebox.

Getting Tivo

We're getting Tivo next week and a super fast broadband connection.  Not sure if i'm going to let April use the remote mind, I hear that it remembers what you watch and records things automatically depending on your likes and dislikes.

Our current box is usually full of Nick Knowles and Don't tell the Bride.

Survival

Survived Shaheen's stag and when we left him he was still alive.  He had another couple of nights to go though.  Awesome venue, but it was a bloody long way to drive, thankfully Ross drove me in his Porsche and I think we made it back in record time including a stop off for petrol and a Burger King.

Breakfast of kings

Trying to get rid of food before the weekend away. Bacon and sugar snap peas.
