Playing with one of the filters on my phone

There's an AR (Augmented Reality) app on my phone and one of the options is trying out makeup.  The phone's camera and software analyse your face and then suggest what makeup you should use.

Whilst away, I will still have my old number if you want to contact me but it will be in my old phone, which I won't be checking regularly.

We've ordered new pre-paid sims which should arrive in the next couple of days, i'll pass those numbers on in due course.

Useless twat

I had to get my phone repaired again today.  Looks like after the glass repair I had done a month ago on my phone camera also introduced some dust (after the fix).  So i've now had the whole camera replaced.  It all looks good but am annoyed.

I wish I had the non British aggressive twat gene that meant I could argue with a random shop worker about getting it done for free as am sure it was still in warranty.

£50 on top of the £20 I spent earlier.  Could be worse, I could have dropped my tablet in the bath on Sunday.  Oh year, I did that too.  What a twat!

At least it means my surface pro gets to see more daylight.  Other than watching stuff in the bath (where I will never take it), and it being a fair bit heavier I think I will survive.

In fairness, my tablet is 3 years old now and has had a couple of incidents where i've dropped it and cracked its screen so it's served me well.

Time to move forward.

My new background

I needed a new background photo for my phone as it was factory reset. Biscuit happily volunteered to model for me.

Phone's back

I finally got my phone back after smashing it a couple of weeks ago.  They kindly factory reset it so have spent the past day trying to remember which apps I had on my home screen.  I've got 5 slots free.  I wonder what they were.

3rd run of the week this morning

No toilet issues but my old phone failed on the tracking side of things.  Not sure why the GPS wasn't working but every five minutes were disturbed by the message you have been running for x minutes and have covered 0.00 miles at an average speed of 0 /mph.  Quite demoralising really.  Hopefully i'll get my phone back in a week or so.

25 mins to get my PAC code

The lady did try to get me to stay but told her that unless the deal was going to be amazing then I was going to leave anyway as i'd already been on hold for 25 mins and wasn't in the mood for haggling.  She didn't haggle.  Back to Giff Gaff for me then.

Android update

My phone updated itself a couple of days ago and as far as I can make out the only change is rounder icons.

Fatal flaw with my new phone

It's so slick, unless the surface is perfectly level it has a tendency to slide off.  It's happened about 4 times now. 

Oops. Should have turned the phone off

My phone just went off in a lecture at the institute of actuaries. Oops.

I did think I'd put it on silent.  Maybe I should have turned it off like they said.

New phone on route

Just ordered myself a new phone. I've had this current one or at least a version of this one (phone replaced as I broke it) for nearly two years now which is a long time for me. I'd usually get myself a new phone and a new contract every year but since moving to giff gaff and with Android being virtually the same on each phone the only point of replacing it is if it stops working or becomes too slow. I've bought a sim free version as I've been very happy with giff gaff, especially the price.

The phone's still very fast but has started to fall apart a bit with the headphone connector intermittently packing up and a slight warming up issue, butopefully I'll still be able to get a few quid for it.

My tablet however has become noticeably slow and unresponsive. I may have to replace that sooner rather than later. Anybody want an 18 month old Samsung 10.1?

According to my insurer

My phone has been fixed and ready for dispatch.  That's not bad as within a day they've managed to fix it.

My major doubt is how have they 'fixed' it so quickly?

I'll guess i'll find out in a day or two when I pick it up.

In other WiFi news, i've managed to get the guest wifi access at work.

Most annoying

I think the most annoying thing about not having my phone is the fact that they'll probably erase it's memory and I'll loose my progress on Candy Crush! Level 132.

Incommunicado

My phone's off to get repaired again. Wifi doesn't seen to be working as good as it should. I've got a cheapo Nokia for just the occasion but that doesn't seem to work either.

Phone update

Looks like my phone's been repaired.  With any luck I should have it by the weekend.  It's getting delivered to work so I don't have to pick it up from the post office (it needs to be signed for).  It had better not turn up on Saturday! 

 

It's been weird living without my smart phone.  It's like living in the 1990's again.  This temporary phone i'm suing has pretty much has the same features as my first ever phone which I think I got back in 1999.  I guess it does have a colour screen and a torch though.

 

One good thing about the phone is it's battery life.  We charged it fully on Friday night and i've only lost one bar of battery.
