Podcast overload

For some time now i've had an overload of podcasts.  Here are some of my subscribed casts.  Athletico Mince is by far and away the best and generally listen to that as soon as it's released.

I have a 10 minute walk to the train in the morning, followed by 10 minutes to the office at the other end.  So that's 40 mins a day, 5 times a week. 3h20m total per week, but I must have up to 10h of new product each week.  There are some that i've just had to cull, some I have to be more selective with.

I'd love to be able to listen to them at work but don't think I can concentrate enough on work whilst doing it.  I sometimes just put my headphones on with nothing on, but that's just to tone down the general office drone when I have to focus on a particular task.  It also has the benefit of putting people off asking questions and putting you off your stride.

When i'm off work in a week's time I may get a chance to catch up.  I have 55 recordings outstanding.

A nice surprise

I went to see The Bugle (podcast) get recorded yesterday somewhere not to far from Kings Cross. We ended up getting the same tube back as Andy Zaltzman, we were with a friend who knew him so we had a chat. Nice guy.

Christ on a bike watched

I watched Richard herring's Christ on a Bike over the past couple of days during my commute. Fairly good and funny in bits although the subject matter (bible, Christ) or anti the subject matter holds very little interest to me these days. It's all a load of rubbish so I just don't pay it much attention.

I went to a friend's baby daughter's christening last Sunday in an awesome church in Holborn. It went pretty quickly so wasn’t too bothered.

The vicar / priest (not sure) made me laugh though when he mentioned that a local imam (spelling) asked if his congregation could use their church one day a week as his venue was too small. His facial expression was hilarious along with

“I’m not going to tell you what I said to him…”

I’m going to try and get tickets for Richard Herring (Leicester Square Theatre Podcast) next week. Should be good. I’ve listened to about 10 of his previous ones, plus all 50 of his Edinburgh podcasts plus his popular As it Occurs to Me. I think the very least I could do was buy one of his DVDs and see him live.

I've found a new podcast

Talking Metal. Just listened to the first 10 minutes and think it could be good. The last 7 mins of that 10 was an Iron Maiden song, To Tame A Land. Sold!

Not sure how they get the authority to use the music, all the other podcasts I listen to certainly aren't allowed. Who cares? It's pretty good so far. Also I downloaded episode 387 so if I like it there's plenty of back log to go through.

Finally caught up

Finally caught up on all my podcasts since getting back from my honeymoon. I must have had a days worth, plus if I didn't keep on top of it even more would pile up.

Podcast fatigue

Over the past few months i've been really getting into podcasts. I'm not sure why I never bothered with them before but I do enjoy a good handful at the moment.

I am currently subscribed to about 10 podcasts, most are around an hour long and update once a week. That's a fair load of hours to sit through. Luckily I have 2 hours commuting time each day and up to 4 hours in the gym each week. However it is quite easy to create a quite considerable back log whilst going through some of their back catalogs at the same time.

I'm also aware that since picking up the podcast bug i've also stopped reading. On my recent holiday in Morocco I brought with me about 5 books and didn't pick one up for the whole trip.

Maybe I should cut back...
