Finally got the contract extension through, there wasn't really a choice between extending and joining the other firm. Not everything comes down to money, but for doing virtually the same work i'm getting paid an additional £42,500 over 6 months, plus I only have to go into the office once a week rather than the mandated 4 in the new place.
