New show

I know my opinion doesn't count for much but for what it's worth here's a link to a new comedy show on bbc3 by a group of guys I really like. Pappy's.

I've not seen their show yet as it starts in a couple of weeks but I have seen them with April about 10 times in one guise or another and I think they're hilarious.

Review of 2012

Well, so what have I been up to in 2012?

House move
We're still living in Tonbridge.  At the tail end of summer 2011 we put our house up for sale which the view to moving to Greenwich.  We even went as far as putting in a couple of offers on a couple of houses but due to no activity on our place removed the house and decided to stay here for another year or two.

Pub
We love Tonbridge though and have made lots of friends in addition to the few we knew already.  We've also made the local pub the P&J a second home and the land lady now knows us by name.  Other than the pub I worked in back in Corby that's never happened to me.

Glamping
With part of a present from April's dad we took a trip down to the south west where we went glamping, or glamorous camping.  In the summer it would be fun but we did this in March / April.  Bloody freezing!

Portugal
In July we went to Portugal with a couple of friends.  One of their colleagues owned an apartment out there and lent it to us for a week.  Good fun indeed and the little place we were in was really friendly.

Shaz's wedding
Shaz got married this year.  Great fun was had by all.  It was like being a teenager again.  Aston!

Anniversary
We made it!  Our first year anniversary.

Mexico
We went to Mexico for the first time in November.  A great place with really friendly people.  The weather was great and was what we needed but it was an awful long way (10 hours) to go for just a week.

Operation
I hurt my finger playing rugby back in October and it ended up being both dislocated and broken.  Ouch.  I've since had an operation to reattach some tendons and to fix the knuckle.  Although still sore, fingers crossed it'll get better soon.  The physio is impressed with it's movement so far.  Watch this space.

TV
I convinced April to go in half way for a new TV.  47 inches of pure HD.  Lovely!

Work
Big changes at work, my old manager has now left and the team has changed considerably.  It's been interesting.  Let's hope it stays that way

Guess who's getting a fancy tablet for his birthday?

That will be me.

A Samsung galaxy 10.1 64gb.  Hopefully it'll delay me getting a new laptop (due March 2013).

It was either that or a big new tv.

3rd season of Battlestar Galactic is pretty good

Watched the first yesterday.  Now for the next few.  I should be able to squeeze in a couple before April gets back from London and her band practice.

Perseverance

I've persevered with Grimm and am glad of it.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1830617/

Rather than just random episodes it's now putting a few bits together of the overarching plot.  Much better.  It's also getting a bit grimmer.

Games room?

April's thankfully finished her last exam so what are we going to do with the old study? A GAMES ROOM! We could get some sort of futon, move the X-box and tv upstairs and also get a new bigger tv downstairs plus hd cable downstairs?

Wall mount prices

I was bored at lucnch so went looking for a TV aerial for our new bedroom TV. Next to the aerials were wall mounts. One was selling for over £200 pound!

It could hold up to a 52 inch TV but come on...

New TV

As mentioned a number of times before, i'm thinking about getting an x-box. I've now played Fallout 3 and if that's used as a benchmark of what games are like I might go out and by one tomorrow.

The logical place for it to go would be in our study. This would mean getting new TV.

What size? Origianlly I thought, get a massive new one for downstairs and use my old Samsung in the study, I then thought it would probably be too big for that small a room. Great! That means I can get a smaller TV (much cheaper) which would make the whole purchase much more feasable.

I've been in touch with my South Korean friend (the guy who's friend works at Samsung) and he reckons we can get another good deal. No spreadsheet this time though, i've got to find one I like and then they'll tell me how much they can sell one to us for.

I think 21 inches will be enough and possibly with a freeview TV tuner installed. April can watch Ugly Betty to her hearts content up there...
