The hunt

I've bought nearly a kilo of mini eggs for Sunday's easter egg hunt.  My plan is to hide each of the plastic eggs around the fancy house we're staying at over the easter holidays.  In each of the plastic eggs i'm going to write a number between 1-5.  They can then exchange the note for the same amount of mini eggs at my mini egg bank.

Bank robbery

Tonbridge has lost 3 big banks in the last year or so.  Here's one of the latest getting stripped out.  Doesn't seem very professional.

Too honest

For some reason you get £100 cash back from BUPA when you have a child.  I used Lloyds Bank's automated cash machine and nearly got an additional £800.  I didn't chance it and put in the correct figure.

Change pot savings

Roughly £260 counted,  £232 bagged.  Now I've got to drag it to the bank.

Fraud

Some asshole tried to take money from my account this week, so now i'm getting pestered by my bank with calls.  I thought I managed to sort it all out yesterday but I've had another 3 calls from them since.  Not because of new transaction but because their system hadn't updated itself.

Free money

I was given £85 by my bank yesterday as they'd failed to change my address on the 10 months we've been in the new house.

I didn't even have to ask for it. Brilliant.

I was wondering why I was tired today

Then I remembered I did this earlier.

After that I had a 2.5 hour one on one mortgage application meeting. Urgh, that certainly didn't help. All good though.

Come in store?

Waiting for a delayed train to work and saw this advert

We believe borrowing should be simpler.

Come in branch and talk to us today.

Really? We also believe we need to talk to you like a child.

Productive morning

Just dropped my current account down to a basic account and reduced my monthly mobile contract in half (not upgrading yet), so am saving >£35 / month.  Excellent!

Security feature

Or bloody nuisance?

Natwest have added this security cage to their ATMs just off Fenchurch Street to obscure the keypad from would be robbers.  All it does however is make it difficult to type in your pin code and almost impossible to retrieve your money.

Idiots!

Just saved £30

A big thank you goes out to the nice cashier at Lloyds bank today and that's the second time she's helped me. We needed to transfer £500 to a solicitor today as we're re-mortgaging our house and have to pay around part of the mortgage as half of the month has already expired. I was told that we needed to set up a CHAPS payment so that the money was guaranteed to be in their account tomorrow morning.

Speaking to the cashier she said that it's cost £30, then suggested that I just withdraw the cash, walk over the road to the local RBS and pay it in over there instead. Doh! Why didn't I think of that? Great though, that's saved us £30. She helped me when I was moving into the Clapham flat before. I went to one Lloyd's branch to transfer some money but they wouldn't let me as I didn't have photo id. I went my usual Lloyd's and she said it wouldn't be a problem. Nice lady.

In other news, whilst I was there I saw the CFO of my old company in there too, I reckon he was there to check that his £500,000 bonus had been paid into his account.
Anyone for a money fight???

More idiot bankers

I went to a Barclay's cashpoint last night to get some money (what else would I be doing there) and the damn thing nicked my card! I tried putting in my pin but nothing happened. I mashed lots of keys including the return card key and still nothing happened. Then a message popped up asking me if I wanted to have my card returned so I mashed more buttons then the whole thing rebooted and was left with an old windows NT screen saver floating around the screen.

Bloody thing! I phoned my bank up and I should have a replacement by Wednesday. Good job, as i''m off to Spain on Thursday!
