It's not every day your local MP drops off baby supplies

Our MP dropped off his baby bottle sanitiser on Saturday.  I had a 5 minute chat with him.  Quite surreal.

Photos from the hustings

April had her hustings as on Sunday, and despite some quite understandable pre match nerves absolutely stormed it.  And that's with the majority of the audience being 60+ year old retirees that had voted Tory all their lives.

The event was held at a local church and had the facility for live tweeting.  I was the first to do it and a picture of me wielding and axe with the twitter handle watdefu was projected onto a couple of screens around the venue.  It was there for quite a while.

A Red, a Green and a Yellow walled into a pub.

...and had a lovely chat about politics..

April stormed the local hustings on Sunday.  A few of the parties decided to meet up for a debrief in the Checkers afterwards.

Vote Green, and if not donate

I'm note sure how many people silently read my blog but for those that do please take a little time out of your day and donate to my wife April's crowdfunder campaign.

She's not only standing for the County Council elections next month but now due to the snap election  is now standing for election in the General election 3 years sooner than expected.

If you can spare a few pounds to support her cause that would be great, and if you live in the Tonbridge and Malling area even better, as you can vote for her too!

http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/votegreenapril

Your donation will help cover the not insignificant costs of running in an election, such as the £500 deposit, leaflet and poster printing etc.

And knowing the Greens, if there is any left over i'm sure they'll put it towards saving an endangered seal or something...

Not quite what I was expecting

Well that's interesting.  Not sure it's what I was expecting.

Here's the quiz if you want to have a shot yourself

http://uk.isidewith.com/political-quiz

As mentioned before, don't be a dick and vote Green.  Not sure if it will catch on as a catch phrase but we shall see.

Mark Thomas' latest show

We went to see Mark Thomas' latest show last night at the Trinity Theatre Tunbridge Wells. The Red Shed.  I have to say it was excellent.  I don't agree with all of his political view points but he's certainly very passionate about showing them, which I admire greatly.

He spoke mostly about his time supporting unions and strikes up and down the country, but mostly he talked about his the love of where his political yearning began.

The Red Shed in Wakefield.  A meeting hall and social club for like minded people.

At the end of his show (which went down surprisingly well in a town like Tunbridge Wells) ended with him inviting people to the said shed.  I think I would be too scared.

15 years ago I would have said that I was definitely a Tory, but bit by bit I have mellowed.  Having a very active Green party supporting wife certainly helps.  I've never really held any real strong political views but more and more often these days I find myself embarrassed or ashamed of what other people are capable of.

I personally have not been massively effected, after all I have a good job in the city where I earn far too much money, and maybe that gives me the space to think and behave in the way I do.  People from less affluent areas may feel that they have very little going for them and are gradually losing the little say they have in society so feel it necessary to vote for things like UKIP or for Brexit.

I generally just hope that people try not to be dicks.

Well. That's a turn up for the books

Who'd have thought the torys would get in on their own?
Not me. Not the media.
Putting policy aside, I do think it's better having one party in control.
Getting things done is better than not doing half of the things that need doing.
This election does point out some glaring holes in our political system. Despite how much you dislike UKIP, you can't deny their popular support. They got more than double the number of votes as the SNP but the SNP got 50+ seats compared to 1.

Worthless?

http://democraticdashboard.com/constituency/tonbridge-and-malling/

My vote is worth nothing... or to be precise 0.1 when compared to the national average.

Maybe I'll vote for someone else this year.

Interesting political survey

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-26689333

http://populuslive.spss-asp.com/mrIWeb/mrIWeb.dll

According to the survey results I'm 100%

Optimistic Contentment: "Confident, comfortable & usually on higher incomes they are prudent & tolerant but think Britain is a soft touch."

Hmm...

Fast track scheme

Should higher tax rate payers be given special privalages?  Answer:  Yes

3 Teared Scheme

Unemployed:  Curfew, they must do all their shopping during normal working hours so as not to clog up the supermarkets over the weekends (I count pensioners in this bracket too).  Banned from pubs.  Not allowed Sky TV
Lower rate:  Keep things the same.  Afterall they've done nothing wrong.
Higher rate:  Straight to the front of queues

My Manifesto

If I were running for this year's elections the first thing on my manifesto would be to increase the bag size of frazzles. I think twice the size would be sufficient.

Cheers!

I didn't realise that cider manufactuers and drinkers were that powerful a lobbying group. They put tobacco and energy companies to shame.

Lib Dem conference

Nick Clegg's quite funny for a politician but i'd still never vote for them

"They are the living dead -They are a Zombie government. A cross between Shaun of the Dead and I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue."

The jokes keep on coming. Cameron is the "Andrex puppy of British politics - A cuddly symbol, perhaps. But fundamentally irrelevant to the product he's promoting".
